This is the bike that will take me tound the UK. it is a 2003 model BMW R1150RT. a supremely comfortable touring bike with plenty of storage space. While its not the fastest bike in its class, my objective is not speed, but the opportunity to see the wonderful coast of the UK.

Small beginings

This is the first of what I hope will become a regular posting - building up to my trip around the coast of the UK on my BMW R1150 RT.
I dont have a firm date for the trip, but it will be after October 2012, possibly in the summer of 2013, when I become 60, or maybe the year after.
I am not anticipating a huge readership for this blog, at least not yet! but if anyone does have experience of this trip or similar i would love to hear from you.
My plan as it stands, is embyonic. Riding about 200 miles a day i will follow the closest road to the sea arounfd the whole of the UK, my estimation is that means a trip of about 4500 miles taking roughly 23 riding days. with time off, and the innevitable delay, I am planning for a month on the road.
As I get used to this blogging business I will put some more interesting details on here, and look forward to contact with fellow bikers and travel enthusiasts.
